Parliament exhibit that stick is supreme than Quran-o-Sunnah – Hashmat Habib

By Nasir Mahmood

Hashmat Habib President Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Adlia said that Quran-o-Sunnah is Supreme Law of Pakistan but our Parliament has proved that stick is supreme which can bring all parties on one go resulting into the amendment in Pakistan Army Act and Rules which is serious matter endangering the rule of law.

The senior lawyer said that parliament has already passed article 10(A) which guaranteed right to fair trial to all persons including servicemen but still constitution contains Article 199 (3) which ousted the High Court jurisdiction in respect with all matters relating to forces. Lawyers must act to protect the rights of people and dignity of parliament enabling it to act according to Quran and Sunnah without fear and favour.

He said review petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against granting 6 months time to Gen. Bajwa and on the other hand is enforced disappearance of Col. Inaam-ur-Raheem Advocate. Same method was adopted for the grant of extension.

He said at least Parliament should have asked the responsibles to free Senior Advocate practicing at Supreme Court and High Courts before amendment could be made. But the parliament has lost this chance and became mum acting under the instructions of such invisible authorities.

Our forces are disciplined organization and entire nation is proud of it. Further at least this disciplined organization should have groomed the successor of its Commander in Chief otherwise the existence of this force carry a big question mark? Hashmat Habib added.
