Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal Bin Ferhan stated that the normalization of Israel’s position in the region would be beneficial for the whole region in terms of economic, social and security.
Istanbul (Anadolu) – In an interview with CNN, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Bin Ferhan said he does not know whether an agreement will be made between his country and Israel anytime soon.
Noting that the normalization of Israel’s position in the region will be of great benefit for the region, Bin Ferhan said, “Normalization will be beneficial for the whole region in terms of economic, social and security.” used the expressions.
Bin Ferhan also stated that if the Palestinian issue is not resolved and a Palestinian state is not established within the borders of 1967, normalization will not be possible in the region.
He added that his country had previously promised normalization with Israel in the event of the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital within the 1967 borders within the framework of the Arab Peace Initiative.
In the Arab Peace Initiative’s declaration adopted in Beirut, Lebanon in 2002, the member states of the Arab League refused to normalize with Israel unless they accepted “land for land peace”, that is, the independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Following Egypt and Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan joined the caravan of countries that accepted normalization with Israel in 2020.
