Thousands attend martyrs’ funerals in IOJ&K

NNR/Karrar – October 17, 2019

In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people took to the streets in Islamabad and Kulgam areas to mourn the killing of three youth by Indian forces amid continued military siege and communications lockdown on the 74th consecutive day, today, in the territory.

The troops martyred the youth, Zahid Ahmad, Nasir Chadro and Aaqib Ahmad Sheikh, in a fake encounter in Pazalpora area of Islamabad district yesterday. People including women and children thronged Bijbehara, Arwani and Redwani, the hometowns of the martyrs, to have their last glimpse. Shouting pro-freedom slogans and waving Pakistani flags, the mourners carried the bodies to the local graveyards for burial.

Meanwhile, on the 74th successive day of military siege and communications blockade in Kashmir Valley and Muslim majority areas of Jammu region, main business activities continued to remain suspended and public transport was off the road.

The Resistance Youth League has issued a protest calendar for upcoming week, urging people to follow the programme in letter and spirit.

In London, the speakers at a Kashmir conference called upon the international community to take notice of massive human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. The event was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International at House of Commons.

Members of all political parties at a debate in Bradford City Hall condemned the human rights violations taking place in occupied Kashmir.
