AIGP praises role of ABAD for development of Karachi

KARACHI: Additional Inspector General of Police Sindh Dr. Amir Ahmed Shaikh assured the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) to solve complaints of builders and developers on the priority basis as construction sector plays leading role in national economy and ABAD has contributed a lot for the development of Karachi.

He was addressing a meeting with members of ABAD here on Thursday at ABAD House. Chairman ABAD Muhammad Hassan Bakshi, Senior Vice Chairman Anwar Dawood, Vice Chairman Abdul Kareem Adhia a number of ABAD members and senior Police officers were present on this occasion. He said that after operation against criminals in Karachi Police have controlled 90 percent extortions and 3 percent street crime during last five months. Unscrupulous and anti Pakistan elements had tried to divide Karachi on ethnic lines and now they are trying to create Shia-Sunni clashes in this mega city but police, Rangers and other Law Enforcement Agencies will foil ulterior motives of anti-state elements and prevail peace established after a number of sacrifices of Law Enforcement Agencies and people of Karachi, he said adding that survey for Safe City Project for Karachi has been completed and the whole city will get surveillance cameras very soon.
Additional IGP Sindh said that a peaceful and conducive environment in the city is must for attracting investment but Karachi was considered very dangerous city of the world before 2013 and businessmen were shifting their businesses in various countries but members of ABAD bravely faced the worst situation and worked for the development of Karachi and played their role for establishing peace in the city.
He said that he is trying to make police people-friendly so that people could trust police. He said that Karachi is the most tax-paying city but the city is not getting in accordance with its contribution to national exchequer. He said that Police department is working on online registration of FIR to fight crimes for which law is being prepared and those persons will get punishment who will lodge false FIR.
Addressing the meeting Chairman ABAD Muhammad Hassan Bakshi paid tribute to Sindh Police for their sacrifices for establishing peace in Karachi and said that police have busted organized gangs of extortionists and land mafia. Extending hand for support to Police Department he said that ABAD will stand with the department for peace in Karachi. He suggested to establish committees at police station level to solve problems of people on fast track and said that members of ABAD and other civilians be included in these committees. He also attract the attention of AIGP towards drugs in city’s educational institutes and said that drug mafias are busy in spoiling our young generation and the police should take stern action against those mafias.
Convener Law and Order Committee of ABAD Asif Sumsum said that police are asking for title documents from builders who are going to lodge complaints against land grabbers. He demanded of AIGP to resolve complaints of ABAD members on priority basis so that they can work peacefully and continue their contribution for the development of the city.
