The government of Sindh on Tuesday appointed Prof Dr Ghulam Raza Bhatti as vice chancellor of Shaikh Ayaz University of Shikarpur
According to the notification, the Universities and Boards secretary, on direction of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, appointed Dr Bhatti as VC on additional charge.
Raza Bhatti has served five years in key administrative positions of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad including Executive Director (August 2015 to February 2016), Member HRD and Member (O&P), and Member Human Resource Development (HRD).
Recently, He joined Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur after completing his five years deputation period in Higher education Commission, Islamabad
According to his resume, Dr Bhatti has been performing vital and wide range of responsibilities of higher education sector Pakistan, which includes administering human resource, planning and development of new universities in Pakistan, coordination and the services portfolio of the HEC Islamabad.
Dr Bhatti represented HEC in more than 70 public and private sector universities of Pakistan while attending meetings of statuary bodes; ie Senate, Syndicate, Board of Governors and Selection Boards
He acquired deep an insight into about governance, management, academic, research and quality programs of higher education sector of Pakistan. He has also attending and represented HEC in the meetings of Senate, National Assembly Standing Committees, Departmental Accounts Committee and Public Accounts Committee.
A distinct botanist/environmentalist, Prof Bhatti holds a PhD degree from the University of London, UK in 1995; Post-Doctorate Fulbright Fellowship (Research and Lecturing) in Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis, Missouri, USA. (2012- November 2013). Dr. Bhatti has also served as Meritorious Professor (Top National Services Scale-Grade 22) since 2011 and Founding Pro-Vice Chancellor of Shikarpur Campus of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, Sindh. Having more than 50 research papers in his credit and supervised M.Phil./PhD’s managing critical conservation projects with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF-Pakistan), Pakistan Science Foundation and Higher Education Commission
Prof Dr Bhatti had been conferred with national Presidential Award ‘Izaz-e-Fazeelat’ (the distinct honor of achievement) in recognition for his perseverance, dedication and outstanding services in the field of higher education, science and research for over three decades. Prof. Bhatti has also been decorated with the “Best Teacher’s Award” by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan in 2009. Dr. Bhatti’s passion for developing educational and scientific institutions is reflected in the Center for Biodiversity, Conservation and Botanical Garden (funded by HEC- Islamabad) and Shikarpur campus of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur
