Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif’s bail plea in Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference.
Nawaz had filed a plea in IHC requesting Court to grant him bail on medical grounds.
In a previous hearing, Nawaz’s Counsel had argued before IHC that his client was suffering from multiple ailments and could only be treated abroad for which he should be granted bail.
Sharif’s ailments can’t be treated in Pakistan, lawyer informed IHC.
Lawyer, Khawaja Haris, feared for Sharif’s life citing his health problems including diabetes, blood pressure and cardiovascular disease.
Nawaz Sharif was also under great mental stress because of his ailments, lawyer informed IHC.
Nawaz has been serving a seven-year prison term at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail since December 24, 2018, was granted a six-week bail on March 26 to get medical treatment.
