Hashmat Habib President Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Adlia has reacted on the PM threat to JUI (F) Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman for initiating enquiry on the allegation of High Treason under Article (6) of the Constitution.
The Azadi March and dharna by Fazl-ur-Rehman falls within fundamental rights and do not attract Article 6 by stretch of any imagination. Imran Khan, whether select or elect, is functioning as Prime Minister of Pakistan, he must think twice before speak maintaining the dignity of Supreme office.
The senior lawyer said Supreme Court had categorically directed govt. to check the educational degrees of Attorney General, Law Minister and other members of legal team involved in preparing defective summaries regarding extension of General Bajwa but now it appears that degrees of entire lot of advisors setup by Imran Khan are also doubtful.
Hashmat Habib said Article 6 is attracted against a person who abrogates, subverts, suspend, hold in abeyance, attempts or conspires by use of force etc. the Constitution shall be guilty of high treason. Similarly aiding, abetting or collaborating is also guilty of high treason.
False allegations also attract penal action in addition to recovery of damages therefore the prime principle is ‘think twice before speak’ in Urdu ‘pehle taulo phir bolo’. Hope this principle will be strictly adhered, the veteran lawyer of Supreme Court added.
