The PML-N member Rana Sanaullah’s statement before National Assembly is eye-opener and will open floodgate for public discussions endangering the very existence of Anti Narcotic Force (ANF).

Senior Advocate Supreme Court Hashmat Habib President Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Adlia said ANF should be dissolved and laws of narcotics be reviewed because death or life imprisonment will not vanish this ‘trade’ it requires public awareness and curative steps. It is a matter of demand and supply.

Hashmat Habib welcomed Rana’s bold act and said ANF was established under international pressure against the ground realities. He said during my experience over 8 years as a journalist and 45 years as practicing lawyer right from trial court to Supreme Court I have not seen a single person involved in production of narcotics or its smuggling who was convicted. In fact only carriers or scapegoats are convicted.

The senior lawyer said that under CrPC recovery can be established through independent witnesses of locality as required u/s 103 CrPC but in narcotics cases this principle is not followed and court birds are believed for conviction.
