Foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi left for Saudi Arabia to attend the Foreign Ministers council meeting prior to the OIC meeting. Qureshi said in the background of the recent developments, OIC meeting has become more important as the rising tension between the US, Iran and KSA/Yemen are the issues that draw attention globally in general and Islamic world in particular.
The prime minister Imran Khan is expected to be an important personality given the critical pivotal place of Pakistan in the region. Pakistan has reiterated its policy asking the member countries and the US to avoid any armed conflict in the region. It would not be in anyone’s interest foreign ministered having said earlier. Even in the ministerial council Pakistan would stress on peace, negotiations and talks for any settlement of the issues. In case of a conflict emerges the region would see ever rising tension and may lead to global oil crisis besides Saudi and Iran grave scenario.
